How one AI Startup Aims to Improve Cable ARPU

With cable broadband subscriber growth slowing in recent quarters, Light Reading senior editor Jeff Baumgartner shares details on a fundamental shift in how some operators are measuring success. While broadband subscriber numbers have long been a primary yardstick, there’s a growing desire to give more weight to average revenue per user (ARPU) growth.

Actifai Engage, an AI-powered acquisition solution, helps broadband service providers drive up ARPU by 9% to 14% by generating recommended consumer offers that match that consumer with the right services based on their specific needs. This approach is in contrast to traditional models that lean heavily on discounts and promotional offers merely to close a sale. According to Actifai’s EVP and general manager Jeff Vogt, “What we’re finding is that first interaction with a prospective customer, in the call center primarily, is the key determinant of customer satisfaction.”

When customers call in, Actifai’s system executes a real-time pull of hundreds of different data points used to generate recommendations on an individual level. In addition to the lift in ARPU, Actifai’s approach has also provided a “conversion” (sales close) improvement of up to 30% with its customers.
